Meet Carmen Peña
Business Development Officer
Carmen Peña Vallejo is an accomplished business professional with more than 20 years of professional experience spanning education, entrepreneurship, business development, and strategic communications. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Education, Administration, and Supervision. Her diverse career reflects a unique blend of leadership experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
She began her professional career with the Puerto Rico Department of Education, where she served as a teacher, evaluator, and Special Education Program Supervisor, developing expertise in leadership, program management, strategic planning, and stakeholder collaboration. She later became an entrepreneur, successfully owning and operating a telecommunications business for more than 15 years, gaining extensive experience in business operations, sales, customer engagement, negotiation, and organizational growth. She also served as Evening Program Supervisor for a nonprofit organization dedicated to alternative education, further reinforcing her commitment to education and community development.
Since joining the PRMSDC in 2022, she has played an integral role in advancing the organization’s mission through strategic event planning, marketing communications, and stakeholder engagement. She now serves as Business Development Officer, where she is responsible for attracting and recruiting businesses to the PRMSDC network, cultivating strategic partnerships, engaging the business community through educational and business development initiatives, and collaborating with corporate members, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to expand opportunities for certified suppliers across Puerto Rico.
Her professional journey reflects a passion for building meaningful relationships, connecting businesses with opportunities, and fostering strategic collaborations that drive sustainable economic growth and create lasting value for businesses and the communities they serve.
